This image is based on the famous work by Eliphas Lévi, depicting the god Baphomet, whom by Lévi was considered to be the symbol of lust, creativity and wisdom. Lord Baphomet took his goatheaded form, one of many ways in which he is depicted, from the rites of the Knights Templar. Since then, several other occult practices have drawn on Baphomet as a source of power. He has often been associated with Witchcraft, particularly its Sabbatic and Luciferian forms.
Baphomet influenced the dramatic ritual acts of Anton LeVey, and is one of the names adopted by Aleister Crowley.
Created and hand-crafted by artist Chas Bogan, this witchboard is unique in its vertical design. Lord Baphomet is situated between dual obelisks, representing the pillars of Tubal Cain, which contain knowledge such as the planchette may reveal should you will your hands to the task.
