Ipomoea Jalapa

Common names:

'High John the Conqueror'

High John the Conqueror Root is the herb associated with the spirit of a folk hero who is its namesake; an allegedly African Prince whose spirit could not be subdued even when sold into slavery. An archetype for masculine strength and cunning, his tales parallel those of Brer Rabbit, another trickster. This root is often used to gain virility, often of a sexual nature for men. When in a mojo bag it is carried for luck or vigor. It serves well as a talisman for spiritual strength amidst hardship.
